About this tour

Spend two hours at a Great Southern vineyard learning how chardonnay evolves from harvest through to bottle. Walk through the cellar, discover how fermentation and ageing reshape the wine's character, then taste five expressions of the producer's chardonnay range side by side. Finish with a full glass of whichever caught your palate, and leave with pairing cards to recreate the experience at home.

Highlights

  • Taste five distinct chardonnays from one producer's collection
  • Follow harvest decisions through fermentation and oak ageing
  • Learn how winemaking choices alter flavour and texture
  • Walk through working cellar and vineyard
  • Take home food-pairing recipe cards
  • Finish with a full glass of your pick

What to expect

You'll start in the vineyard itself, getting a feel for the site and cool-climate conditions that shape these wines. Then move into the cellar where the winemaker walks you through the stages: when fruit gets picked, how fermentation happens, why oak matters, when it's time to bottle. The tasting follows, five glasses lined up showing the range—perhaps unoaked versus oaked, or different vintages. Each pour is a chance to spot how each decision (longer ageing, different cooperage, picking ripeness) changes what's in your glass. You'll notice freshness, structure, complexity building as you taste through.
