What to expect
After meeting at the Beacon Road car park, you'll climb aboard a purpose-built 4WD truck and spend the first part of your 45 minutes bouncing across the dunes whilst the driver points out the terrain and surrounding landscape. Once you've surveyed the best slopes, you'll grab a sandboard and head up to tackle the runs yourself. Expect a proper physical workout—climbing and descending dunes is genuine exercise, not a gentle cruise. The views across the endless white sand are genuinely striking, and the freedom of carving down an open face beats a fairground any day.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required; climbing dunes is strenuous. Not suitable for spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. Children from age 4 welcome, but infants under 3 cannot attend. Wear sunscreen and bring water. Self-drive to the car park off Beacon Road, Lancelin.
