About this tour
Glide across Rottnest Island's interior and northern coastline on a guided 2-hour Segway tour departing from the Settlement. You'll traverse salt lakes tinged pink by mineral deposits, wind through native bushland, and reach dramatic coastal bays and beaches. The route favours spotting quokkas in their natural habitat. A motorised alternative to walking lets you cover more ground and experience the island's geographic contrasts in a single outing.

What to expect
You'll spend the first 30 minutes getting comfortable on your Segway with basic instruction, then head out across the island's flatter terrain. Expect a mix of compacted tracks through low scrub and open paths skirting the salt lakes—the mineral deposits really do cast that pink glow on the water. The second half swings toward the northern coast where bays open up and the landscape shifts to sandy foreshores and rock outcrops. Your guide will point out wildlife and geology as you go. The pace is steady rather than rushed; you're covering distance but stopping to take in views and look for quokkas.
Good to know
Wear sunscreen and bring water—the island offers little shade and two hours on a Segway builds heat. Helmets provided.
