What to expect
You'll depart Perth early and head north towards Nambung National Park. The 4WD enters directly into the Pinnacles Desert, where you can step out amongst the jagged limestone pillars rising from golden sand—a landscape unlike anywhere else. Lake Thetis comes next, where shallow waters reveal living stromatolites, some of Earth's earliest life forms. After a beach break on white sand, you'll drive to Lancelin for the main event: strapping on a board and sliding down enormous dunes. The descent is exhilarating rather than technical. Morning tea and complimentary drinks (including local gin and beer) punctuate the day.
Good to know
Not suitable for spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health; moderate fitness required. Pack your own lunch and snacks beyond morning tea. Sunscreen provided. Departures Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. Wear clothes you don't mind getting sandy.
